educational philosophy has been shaped by my career paths and the
theories of teaching & philosophy
1.1. Making sure
science and learning is fun & stimulating
1.2. John Dewey
Constructivism, building on existing knowledge
1.3. Mulitple
intelligences approach to learning methods.
1.4. Student to student
learning, the teacher being a guide.
1.5. Working from the
big idea in a topic into the finer detail (VSSEC & McRELS)
1.6. Very interested in
linking the environment to teaching science. Forcing the current banking model
book layouts into involvement and practical activities. Taking the student
outside, into the local neighborhood and the community.
1.7. Letting students
have responsibility and control over their learning (within VELS & VCE
guidelenes)
1.8. Pedagogy of the Oppressed (2000) Paulo Freire. Learning gives a lot of power.
1.9. Every student has
value, they just learn in different ways and at different times.
