Strengths & Weaknesses

The modern school requirements.
My strengths/weaknesses.

1: New teaching methods
I completed Grad Dip in Sec Ed at Victoria University in 2012 (see results attached)
Double science methods chem. & biology. (My first degree was a BSc in botany & geology)
2: Active understanding of VELS & VCE Study Design
Covered 2013 Study Design in multiple VU subjects and especially in advanced methods.
3: Out of hours school activities
I have been involved with occupations that have required irregular hours & by getting into the students community or sports events helps me to get to know the students better.
4: Proven experience.
Of all the Grad Diploma Teaching courses in Melbourne, Victoria University has the most practicum days.
Currently doing CRT work through Tradewind Recruitment.
12 weeks practicum at Bayside College.
See attached practicum report.
Plus running the science club at the school for 2 terms.
18mths experience after my BSc teaching undergraduate students Media Studies at the University of Canberra.
5: Teaching collaboration

I have a lot of experience with projects and collaboration to meet goals from my professional photography projects and my IT career.
Group project work was intrinsic to the VU course. I thrive on teamwork and working with the strengths of each team member and negotiating outcomes. Contact Mary Dalmau, Lecturer, at VU as a referee 0419 557  880
6: Detailed record keeping & your school systems.
I have been a volunteer ski patroller for 15yrs and keeping to protocols and the systematic record keeping for legal reasons and working within a strict corporate procedures of Lake Mtn Ski Resort

7: School Ethos & Community
I have been involved with a lot of volunteer community work including a meals program for at-risk homeless and as a volunteer ski patroller. As a professional photographer I have been involved with donating pro bono services for cancer related charities for ten years. I am very socially aware.
8: Passion
I really enjoyed seeing the kids learning. I have spent a ski season instructing school groups and taking them out for day tours.   One of the keys to that success was getting the passion across in the teaching process. If we get the students passionate they achieve so much!
The practicum after the theory is a telling time in the Grad Dip and, being at the coal face, I also realized that I thoroughly enjoyed working with youth.
I have a consistent, 100% goal directed behaviour in all I do.
